Mahatma Buddha’s childhood name was Siddhartha. He was born in 563 BC in Lumbini Kapilvastu, Nepal. His father was the head of Kshatriya (Shakhya Gana). His mother was Mahamaya (princess of Kolin dynasty).
Mahamaya died a few days after Siddhartha’s birth, so Mahatma Buddha was brought up by his aunt Gotami, who was also his step mother. Siddhartha got married at a very young age (16 years) to a very beautiful woman named Yashodhara. Siddhartha and Yashodhara gave birth to a son whose name was Rahul.
